BEHIND THE SCENES: Musing for the day—with Photographer Joe Tortora
A little over a year ago, I was lounging in the park, reading Cleo Wade’s ‘Heart Talk’ (as seen below).
A curious man walked by chanting “Heart talk, heart talk, that’s what we all need.” I was tickled and activated to engage.
Before I got a chance to respond, he raised a humongous DSLR lens, and asked “May I?”
I initiated a hearty conversation, before he got to snapping, and we were off to the races—speaking about life, love, family, and our personal pursuits (hIs being photography and mine storytelling/writing).
Joe exhibited the wisdom and vigor of a seasoned member of society and shared a variety of unfiltered truths. I respected and accepted him and that’s what he marveled at.
Fast-forward to I AM AND I WILL’s launch. I called upon my new friend Joe.
He was more than happy to capture some pictures for the book’s release.
“I’ll take the pictures,” he said. “But, under one condition… I can get a signed copy of your book.” DONE and DONE!

A collaboration of creative minds
Although I had a clear vision of what I liked/was inspired by (see below); I wanted Joe's expertise to shine through.
I aim to collaborate with every creative that I work with; getting their input and combining ideas (where applicable). I think it’s EXTREMELY important; actually it’s quintessential.
I noticed that Joe had a keen eye for candid moments, feeling, movement, and quality.
