5 Things I Enjoy About Bear Mountain (Hudson Valley, NY)

New York is truly a beautiful state—offering diversity in a variety of ways.

The Hudson Valley is one of New York’s many treasures; with countless veteran city dwellers moving “upstate” for rest, relaxation, and quality of life. I can attest to this truth.

What I love about the Hudson Valley is the mountainous terrain and vast hiking locales. Bear Mountain State Park being one of my most frequented trails.

Here’s why…

  1. Hiking Made Easy - the trail is manageable and can be completed in less than an hour (depending on pace and weather)

  2. The impeccable views - even if you don’t make it to the peak/top of the trail there are lovely views throughout the trail

  3. Being in nature - including the beautiful crescendo (featuring animals and insects)

  4. Feeling spiritually connected with nature (and other hikers) - an unmatched experience

  5. Laying out on the lawn (before or after hiking) - enjoying a still moment—or few—collecting my thoughts
